Since the founding of the Austro-Scandinavian dynasty, Paneuropan power
has radiated out from the east of the continent. Greater Iberia has
been a satelite territory, whose political fortunes have followed the
lead of Austro-Scandinavia for three centuries. Noosaqua is hostile
towards their mainland bretheren, and is a member of the continent only
by virtue of their predominantly Scandinavian heritage.
Paneuropans live in fear of that most terrible ecological disaster, the meatspore menace. It is a constant struggle to keep the meatspores contained in its pockets within Greater Iberia. Despite this, Paneuropans enjoy a high standard of living, some religious diversity, and a fair amount of international clout. Like Australia, Paneuropans long ago entered into its Covenant with an invertebrate. Their totems are worms.
There is bitter religious division within Paneuropa, and religious
terrorism is not uncommon.
