HISTORY
|
|
::Bioculture:: |
The Qing people are the result of centuries of
interbreeding among a number of very old tribes, the foremost of which
allegedly was the Qing.
|
::Totem:: |
The Qing had made their covenant with the eel.
|
::Religion:: |
The Conciliation of Life is the state religion. The Qing are
the only state outside of Africa which has adopted a diviner-based
religion. The Conciliation was introduced into Qing following the
pre-WWI pogroms in the theocracies to the west. It quickly established
itself there and thrived, especially among those communities that had
close ties to the shashi populace. Taoism and the Conciliation were
integrated together, and many orders synthesized from the two became
popular. At the time that Qing was becoming less of a world power,
Taoism came to be practiced only by nuns and divested itself of its
laity, most of whom turned to the Conciliation. The Conciliation,
never-the-less remains strongly influenced by Taoism.
|
::Government:: |
Qing is a participatory democracy led by a President and
Congress. Its capital is Shanghai. The rule of relationship networks
excludes the rule of law. Political offices from the lowest city
councilman and dogcatcher to President are bought and sold. The
government has made alliances with the Evenk, Buryat, and Chukchi tribes
in order to secure their cooperation in harrying the forces of Dorje
Bala along its northern border.
|
::Gender:: |
The Qing are matriarchal. Men recently gained the right to
vote, and are expected to devote their lives to serving their wives and
protecting their country.
|
::Guilds:: |
The guilds of Qing produce highly refined visual arts, which
are exported abroad. Longevity agents are also generated in large
quantities, but mostly for domestic consumption. Qing trades with
Macronesia, The Indus Codominion and Sarai.
|
::Military:: |
The Qing military is very closely tied to the military
production guilds. It is a large, well-trained force.
|
::Shashi:: |
Shashi have been relegated to an underclass, young adults
suffering the death penalty for any minor infractions. The shashi
perform complex, highly specialized tasks for the guilds and for the
wealthy. Many are trained as Calxs.
|
::Geography:: | Qing extends from the deserts between Subasia and Polyasia to the Pacific Ocean, and from the jungles of the south to the steppes of the north. |
