::Bioculture:: Aotearoans are Maori. They live in small villages scattered about the islands. The village consists of a swath of land around which the villagers wander, and a communal hall. People will go to the hall every few days to meet for religious activities and to get decisions from elders. There is one very large capital city where foreign defense and the most important guilds are headquartered.

::Totem:: The Covenant of the Aotearoans is with the katipo, the one poisonous spider of Australia. The Covenant is not considered to be very important. People attempt to gain the services of the katipo whenever they can, but ignore it when it isn't going to help them. Aotearoans have bodies more-or-less the same as pre-Covenant humans, with the exception that they have sacs in their mouth that spray an extremely toxic venom.

::Religion:: The Aotearoans practice the only surviving strain of Australian Pantheism. Shamans appease dead ancestors and other ghosts. There is an earth goddess and a sky god.

::Government:: The few Aotearoans who survive to get old join a council of elders which makes decisions for villages of a few hundred.

::Gender:: Aotearoans practice gender equality.

::Guilds:: Each village has a small guild which usually specializes in some kind of miniaturization. Aotearoans are especially fond of jewelry, and produce the very best that the world has to offer. The guilds of the capital produce large powered suits, similar to those of the Noosaquin, but much larger. The suits consist of a layering of several sheath-like animals. A driver enters the suit which mimics the driver's movements. The suit can be used to lift heavy objects like huts, and can be used in warfare.

::Military:: The Aotearoans are extremely war-like. Villages constantly engage in sorties and skirmishes with each other. Every adult who is not an elder is a warrior. When warring against each other Aotearoans will wear masks which deliver their natural venom against enemies. They will carry no other weapons. In combat against foreigners, Aotearoans will always employ powersuits, each one outfitted with a mask which houses a wide array of weapons.

After the destruction of Australian life, a number of hives were established on Aotearoa. The Aotearoans viciously fought the Australians for a century, and eventually succeeded in sacking the hives and killing all of the people there.

::Shashi:: Shashi live in a parallel, nomadic society. When entering the lands of a village, their elders will meet with the elders of the village and make gifts of mana in order to take some small amount of food from the land. In the capital city, the shashi have a permanent community, a ghetto from which they trade mana in return for some wealth. The shashi outside the city have no wealth.

::Geography:: Aotearons live in the two large islands to the southeast of Australia.
