Winter, 2007 vol.5.0.2007 Hey, folks. We've reached the end of another grand year, full of fun and learning (for all of us, I hope). Here's how things have wrapped up for little ol' me: ------------------------- 1. Happy Holidays - The Card ------------------------- My apologies to anyone who wasn't in the group of 110 to receive an actual physical card in the mail, this year. I drastically underestimated the number of folks to whom I wanted to send them out, and was in such a time crunch in these last two months of the year that I couldn't re-print and mail the full number needed (probably over 200, but I still haven't done an actual count), and was further stymied by not having many of your home addresses. So, please accept this PDF version of my twenty-six page "card" as recompense, and if you did not receive one in your post box, e-mail me your physical mailing address, and you'll surely get next year's card (or whatever it is I send out). Here's the link for the card: ftp://www.bainst.com/ChrisBrandtXmasEcard.pdf I struggled with the thought of making it a non-denominational card, but figured you folks would understand the spirit of the season is peace and joy, regardless of the name or trappings. ------------------------------ 2. New Project - Comic Book Geeks ------------------------------ I was interviewed on a public access television show called "Comic Book Geeks" (in an incestuous cycle of serendipity), which lead to my being asked to edit and direct the show for the foreseeable future. The hosts/producers have been happy with the results, thus far. It's a pretty entertaining half hour. Not exactly "Fishmasters" ( http:// youtube.com/watch?v=QfTvFzg_Ac8 ), but close. Here are the first two episodes I was involved in: Episode 31 - Age of Insects - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8PAbkS8TLxU Episode 32 - Independents - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKRh4MAseGo Editing my own interview was a bit narcissistically weird, but there you go. ------------------------- 3. News - Screening Updates ------------------------- The Comic Bug screening was a modest success, though the Thanksgiving weekend found many folks out of town and unable to attend. Wendy Pini and Batton Lash graciously made the long journey to Manhattan Beach, and drew in a good group of enthusiastic folks (thanks, also, to Jackie Estrada's PR efforts). Details on the upcoming screenings at the Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco (in February), and at the New York Comic Con (in April) will be sent out in early 2008. --------- 4. Thanks! --------- A big "Thank-You!" to everyone who's ordered a copy of INDEPENDENTS, or provided morale support of any kind. I don't remember if I mentioned this, before, but I've put up some clips of unused footage from the documentary: http://www.independentsdoc.com/clips.html I hope you enjoy this stuff as much as I do. These samples give a good idea of the difficulty in trimming my forty-plus hours of footage into 77 minutes. There are more samples to share, and I will continue to slowly add them to the site. Cheers! And happy sailing into the New Year. Warm Regards, Chris Brandt Want to receive this crap in your email inbox? Send me a note... |
